Restoring Our Chance - A Review

My guilty pleasure has been reading a lot of steamy romance novels during the global pandemic. It is light, it is fun, and it keeps me from dwelling on the chaos of my son's time machine adventures and my daughter's love for slime. It also allows me to connect with other authors in ways that hopefully make their days just a little brighter!

Alexa Michaels doesn't disappoint her readers in this tale of an independent, strong-willed woman, Samantha Bowers, reuniting with a lover from her past, Logan Peterson. Logan returns to Waynesboro Parish to receive treatment so he can transition to civilian life after being in South America as a Special Forces agent — and Dr. Samantha Bowers happens to be the psychiatrist assigned to the case.

The characters are interconnected, as Samantha's brother, Marcus, served alongside Logan in the Special Forces until he settled down in the North. His connection to the Special Forces brings about the news that the reader, Logan, and Samantha wait for to continue with their lives.

The tension that Ms. Michaels puts into this story keeps you turning the page. The way that Logan's physique is described makes your body tingle. The devotion of a mother protecting her daughter pulls you into the story as well. For every lighthearted emotion you can expect the heat to turn on within a page or two, filling you with elation, fear, or anger.
